Why We Need Measure I

WITHOUT raising your tax rate, VOTE YES on Measure I to continue repairing and upgrading aging Hemet USD schools and improve our local quality of education.

Today’s high school graduates must be prepared to compete in a highly technical and global workforce. Especially now, we need schools with modern classrooms, labs and technology to help students prepare for college, good jobs, and career success.

While some Hemet schools have been upgraded thanks to generous past support from our community, others still need repairs and upgrades. Last year, 108 HUSD classrooms had leaky roofs. Some schools have aging AC units and limited shade structures to protect against extreme heat. Measure I provides a prudent plan to address these and other vital needs – WITHOUT raising tax rates.

Measure I will:

  • Install AC units and shade structures, protecting students from extreme heat
  • Renovate older schools to meet current safety codes and upgrade access for students with disabilities
  • Upgrade classrooms for modern science, math, engineering, technology, and career training in skilled trades and public safety
  • Repair/Replace deteriorating roofs, plumbing, gas, sewer, and electrical systems
  • Improve student safety/security across HUSD

Measure I WON’T increase tax rates. It simply extends WITHOUT increasing the bond authorization voters approved in 2018. VOTING YES continues this locally controlled funding for Hemet USD schools, keeping your tax rate FLAT.

No other funding exists to address these needs.

Taxpayer Protections are MANDATORY. NO funds are allowed for administrators’ salaries. Independent audits, citizens’ oversight, and public reporting ensure proper spending. ALL funds benefit Hemet Unified schools. Local tax rates stay flat.

Teachers, parents, and community leaders across Hemet, Idyllwild, Anza and surrounding communities urge your support. They know, as we do, that good schools contribute to quality communities.

Please, for our children, for our community –

VOTE YES on I. Improve Hemet schools!
